Undeath is undead

I believe I am going back to my original working title of "Undeath" for the book and the accompanying album. There is a publisher now. More details soon. In the meantime, I scratch away. Above is another piece for the series.

Jeweled Martyr

...and now back to the ghosts and other strange spirits. This was my first ever scratchboard drawing. There will be more.

moths

Here is a series I have started of small moth drawings. Each drawing is approximately 4" square. These are for sale... I would like to get $40.00 for each of these. They can be professionally framed for another $50.00...There will be more to come.

First is an unidentified moth:

Next is my favorite moth, the Luna Moth:

...and my favorite drawing of the series so far, the Salt Marsh Moth:

Please contact me revelator(at)lostgospel.org if you would like to purchase a moth or any of my artwork.

Gaslamp Renegade

It's been a busy time. I have had to put the ghost art and music to the side while I attend to some pressing matters, both creative and otherwise. Don Belch (of Ninetail and lately also of Stone Breath) and I built a silkscreen press. The first shirt we did was for Ninetail, based on one of their new batch of songs, called "Gaslamp Renegade." I did the illustration (pen & ink on illustration board). If anyone wants one of these shirts, contact me and I can either get you one or put you in touch with Ninetail.

On the musical front, we've been working on Stone Breath - we are finishing up the new album which is to be called "The Night Birds Psalm (and other songs we sung beneath the silver web)." Before "The Night Birds Psalm" arrives though, we will have a split LP ...and we will compile that material with more new songs and that will make another Stone Breath full length. All of this will happen, probably, in 2011. I am hard at work figuring out the artwork for both of these albums now. It will be different from the illuminations I did for "The Shepherdess and the Bone-White Bird."

As soon as possible though, I'll get back to the ghost/spirit art & music and that means, possibly another release in 2011 from me - besides all of the Stone Breath material - my "solo" album (with guests), timeMOTHeye and the Spectral Light.

Spirit with Orbs

Spirit with orbs. Sharpie and ballpoint pen on paper, 2011.

I have chosen a new title for this series. I like "Undeath," but I fear in the wake of twilightvampiremania, too many people will assume the series is about vampires. It most certainly is not.

The music proceeds very much to my liking. I have become very interested in harmonics and overtones and this album has much to offer there. EVPs can be heard throughout the songs if one listens closely. These are not samples, but occurred naturally during the recording process. Perhaps they are artifacts of the drones and overtones, and easily explained away - but perhaps not. Either way.

There is quite a guest list planned - and it is expanding daily. I'm really excited so many of my friends can help me out with this.

Undeath: Skull

Skull. Ballpoint pen and sharpie on paper. 2011.

"Undeath" may or may not be the final title for this project. I am working through some other ideas - but it is a good working title for now.

Undeath: Footprints in the Snow

Sharpie marker on paper, 2011.

The music proceeds nicely...it's strange and spooky. I am really enjoying it. Guests will include: Don Belch, Alicia Wade, and, most likely, Terry Earl Taylor. Maybe more before it's done. Don and I are utilizing a lot of mordorchord in the compositions which helps the ghostly mood, for sure.

Horse's Spell

This is a one-of-a-kind book of automatic drawings. The drawings were done in ink and then transferred to archival printing paper via monotype process. The book is approximately 8.5"x11", spiral bound, with front and back covers made from tarpaper. There is a sheet of transparency film bound at the front and back of the book to protect the print paper from the tarpaper. There are 23 monotype prints in the book. This book will come with a 3" CDr that includes an exclusive song I have recorded for this project. This book is available for purchase here:

Undeath

Sometime in 2010, I started working on a series of ink drawings in my sketchbook. These are done with sharpie markers on paper. In the past, I've always used illustration board and drawing pens for my illustrations, but I found the sharpies somehow both challenging AND relaxing to work with. It's like using the cheaper paper and markers has taken some pressure off and I feel freer to experiment.

I am averaging about 1-2 images/week with some weeks bringing much more work, and some weeks bringing no images at all. Most of the images are about 8.5 x 5.5" - some work better than others, but as a whole, it's some of my favorite work I've done and it's gotten me very excited about drawing again.

The series is called "Undeath: ghosts, angels, and other spirits" which I plan on publishing in some form (hard copy, probably not digital) in multiple volumes. Each volume will come with an album of my music (probably on CD as that is easiest). I'll post some images here over time...

This was one of the first ten or so I completed and is, perhaps, my favorite so far.

reset

Well, I haven't posted here in over a year. Why? I think some other folks cover the fortean/paranormal thing with more regularity and a broader scope than I could ever hope. Check out The Daily Grail and Phantoms and Monsters for instance. I'm still interested in all of that, and I'm still writing about it - but not in any way that I think makes sense for a blog.

So, from here, I will turn this more into an artist's blog where I will post my pyrography, illustrations and, hopefully, some of my music. I hope the few folks who have been following me will continue...
